OMG, I definitely would not wait on this. Ovarian cancer can grow very rapidly, and I think your discomfort will just increase over the next few weeks. Mine was also large, about the size of a cantelope. I was fortunate that I had a gall bladder attack that sent me to the ER, and from there things moved quickly. I had surgery 3 days later. Even as large as mine was, I am stage 1 and have been cancer free for almost 3 years. Ask for a gynecologist oncologist for the surgery. The outcome is better with the specialists.
Good luck, and keep us posted. It's a tough surgery, but you can get through it and start fighting if it is cancer (hopefully it's not!)

Please do not wait on this. Did you see a Gyno Oncologist? You could also have fluid buildup as it goes along with Ovarian cancer. I just had 5.5 liters of fluid drained off on 08/20/13. It came on fast and was the first drain since my surgery in July 2012. I was diagnosed with Stage III Ovarian cancer in June 2012. The best to you.

seems like "URGENT" surgery and a 3 week wait have very little in common.
you need to see, as Patsy advises, a gyn oncologist asap.

Even after i was already bloated to the point where no clothes fit me, and they had already diagnosed me with ovarian cancer i still had to wait 2 more weeks to see the gyno/oncologist. i couldnt eat, could barely get up, and down from couch, and was all around miserable.
when i finally got to my appointment i was admitted that day to the hospital, and over 20lbs. of fluid were drained from my abdomen.
i would not wait, call, and keep calling until they see you.
i hope you get in ASAP

I tried to make an appt. with my family dr. but he is on vacation.

I've looked all over online and can't find a gyno-oncologist in Ontario. I contacted the hospital and they confirmed my appt. and assured me that it wouldn't be cancelled. And that if I feel the need, to go to the emergency dept.

They said that the wait times are determined by urgency (I'm sure there are others worse off than me).
This gyno is one of our best, so I was lucky to get an appt. when I did.

Most cysts on the ovaries are benign. You should see a gynecologic oncologist. It's worth the drive. Mine is a 5 hour drive. You say Ontario- Canada or California? It it's Canada, there would surely be a specialist in Toronto. If it's California, UCLA is the place to go- that's where I went, and they are wonderful.

I wish you the best of luck. I know the fluid,bloating is very uncomfortable. Hope you can get it taken care of. I had fluid removed on 8/20/13 and it is back. I am now in Tennessee and have an appt
next week with my new oncologist. Just called to see if someone there can see me or if I must go to ER. It is not as bad as Aug but I do not want to get into that shape again. I will be thinking of you and hoping all goes well and that it is not ovarian cancer.

I'm having a full hysterectomy. Everything is being removed. He didn't give me a choice and I have no problem with that.

Well, it turned out to be Stage 3c ovarian cancer. I'll be seeing oncologists & surgeons over the next few weeks.

good luck with all you are going to have to do to beat this. you may discover how strong you really are, most of us don't know it until we really need to step up.

So sorry to hear you have Stage III Ovarian Cancer. There are lots of treatments out there. You will receive more info than you can comprehend at first but it all comes together. I also have Stage III, was diagnosed on 6/28/12. Have been on several different chemo meds and am on Taxol right now. I wish you the best and pray your oncologist can find a chemo that works well. I've just been diagnosed with ovarian cancer and I've accepted that, but losing my friend's dog Nala today is devastating to me.
She was the last of the 'three amigos' since my friend moved away from next door. She had another dog, Casey and my dog Ripley. I can't stop thnking of Ripley whom we lost in April after 2 years of chemo. My husband would get up at 4 a.m. to drive 5 hours to and 5 hours back to get his treatment every three weeks.

I can so relate to you. I have 2 dogs and 2 cats. How dependant we humans become of them. I also have ovarian IIIC, 6 chemo treatments - finished in late May - and so far so good. Chemo treatments are no fun - but like the rest of us you can get through it. All the very best with everything.
