As collagen is an important protein in bone structure this impairment causes those with the condition to have weak or fragile bones.
I suffer with real bad lower back pain as well, i understand what you mean about people thinking your lazy because you need to sit down all the time or say you cant carry things because there to heavy.
What makes it worse is i give up trying to explain to people what OI is as they don't understand, not surprised as when i go to the hospital and tell the doctors i have OI they don't know what it is :\
i fractured my back in 3 places 3 years ago, i'm 22 and suffered with back pain since i was 7.
Regarding disability me and my sister use to get DSA up until we turned 16 then it stopped as 'the number of fractures decreased'
