Lung Transplants

My wife was diagnosed in 2005 and has been surviving on a combination of Ambresentan and Sildenifil. The hospital made us aware of the possibility of a lung transplant and today we attended a prelimonary meeting concering the transplantation list.

I know this may sound strange, but I am looking to hear from people who have had or are on a waiting list for a lung transplant. We need to hear of experiences, no matter how varied.

Hi, I had a single Lung tx almost 2 years ago and because of numerous pneumonias & rejections am getting re-listed again. I've journalized all my adventures with transplant here on DS. My journal is open to the public. Please remember that what I went through will not necessarily happen to everyone else, Just be aware that it can happen. They told me that when you get a transplant you change one set of problems for another & they were not kidding. Good Luck on you and your wife's decision. Thank you for the reply. We are still in the early stages at the moment. The docs say it is not something she will need for a while but I figured it is good to be a little more prepared. I shall have a read with the wife.

On the otherside of the coin I had a heart transplant almost 5 years ago. I was the recipent of a 19 year old heart. Complications are common when it comes to transplants. There are just a myriad of things that can go wrong. We managed to get through it all. The Drs handling my transpant kept a careful eye on me both before and after. Today I enjoy the benefits of living a productive life. I play golf on a regular basis and we all develop a new respect for our loved ones and life in general. I found the web an excellent source of information about transplants' I learned more about the heart than I ever wanted to know. All I can say for sure is that science has come along way . What used to be experimental surgeryy is now so common that the Drs talk about transplants like we talk about whats for lunch.Learn to trust your doctors and ask all the questions that you need to. Welcome to D/S we all know where youre going and we know you're scared but just know that God gave these surgeons a lot more smarts than us and that they know what they are doing. Greg

I had a bilateral (double) lung transplant 16 month ago. Before that, I was suffering from Idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF). I really wasn't on-board with the idea of a lung transplant, but it was the only choice.
Being sick was a bummer. I'm doing really well now. Out walking and biking. Kind of changed my whole perspective on life! Good luck and God Bless!

    My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus). I read this as one of the signs of an allergy. BUT I did just buy a different brand diaper yesterday (which they have used randomly before w/no issues). Do you think its the cereal or the diaper?
