Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD) an ongoing pattern of disobedient, hostile, and defiant behavior toward authority figures that goes beyond the bounds of normal childhood behavior. When a child cannot seem to control his anger or frustration, even over what seems to be trivial or simple to others, the child will often react in violent or negative ways to his own...
Really really bad few weeks..

I just needed a place to vent about the past month or so. Up until May my son had been doing pretty well, with a few minor rough spots in school..well enough to remain in the general ed class for the majority of the year. Then came May at home with stealing from my boyfirend twice, the second time we had actually put a specified amount of money in his wallet before going to sleep which was of course missing in the morning. When confronted we had to watch the "show" my son put on the "I can't believe your accusing me" over and over and crocodile tears welling up in his eyes at being so "wrongly accused". Until of course we told him we had laid each bill out carefully the night before and knew what was missing in the morning.. its just us in the house so it was either him or the dog. I ran a brief errand, and by the time I returned the money was returned to my boyfriend. Then there was the incident with thw neighbirhood friend, two boys horsing around rough housing, until my son accidentally got pushed down and goes ballistic, literally chased this boy INSIDE his house, thankfully my boyfriend was able to chase him down and drag him home kicking and screaming, before the really angry dad of the boy who appeared in the street seconds later got ahold of him. This was followed by two seperate episodes of running away, and even when found refusing to come home and running off, the second time it took the police to chase him home. Somehow then everything started eroding in the classroom, out right refusals to do work, making noise distractions so the other kids couldnt do work, leaving the classroom when he felt like it, leaving ca,pus when he felt like it..this turned into cursing and threatening the teacher of his gen ed classroom and a trip straight back to the behavior classroom. I wish it had slowed down or stopped there, we had more of the same of course, getting kicked of the school bus for fighting, threatening staff etc. This past week was the worst of all, a lady teacher in his behavior class got assaulted by him, basically everyone within sight threatened, major destruction of school property and him "talking" on a cell phone that looks real telling every one he's getting gang members to shoot up the school and kill everyone...this was all in one day..so naturally he was suspended. I wish it had ended there.. the next morning when the house was still all quiet I got a knock at the door from the police stating my son was a mile from my house walking to school and refused to turn around, get in the car with them or stop..suggesting of course I come with them to get him to come home with mebecause of course based on the craziness of the day before he is barred from campus..I already know based on his reactions to my trying to get him in when we found him after running away its not likely going to happen. I was right he yells at me as I'm following him down the busy road now at least 2 miles from home "Im not going anywhere with you" "leave me the f*** alone" "you dont't care about me". Anyway let me just say we head him off at the school where he is still refusing to go with any of us..I know mad as he was if I'd have just grabbed him and threw him in the car he would have just jumped out again and ran off..went through that last year.. or gone home and dissappeared again..and of course because of his age the police can't do anything but talk to him unless "he's suicidal or actively damaging property". In another attempt to get him home that morning I went and got a beloved neighbor he really looks up to to try to help, we spot him walking and he takes off running and hides, we can't find him anywhere and the police are no longer able to help because of another call they need to go to. I ended up filing a missing persons report and on my way to take the picture down to the police station ( they didn't have time to come get it) I asked my boyfriend to take one more drive through where I had last seen him in hopes of seeing him..I was so scared replaying every horrible thing in my mind that you hear happen to kids out there everyday. We spotted him and it took my boyfriend and another policeman who we contacted on spotting him to pin him and get him in the car this was about 930pm, I watched as my barely turned 11 yr old actually put up a struggle withe the 6ft policeman without a second though. Had to keep hold to him all the was home and when we stopped. Next day he turned into the sweet kid we know and love again..but I am so scared about what will happen next time. It just seems to be getting worse and more dangerous every time. Makes me feel better to know I'm not the only one out there dealing with this. But makes me feel so sad to know that after all the therapists, child psychologist, neuropsychologist, med changes etc etc its still getting worse. Going to try a few new resources I founf to try to get him and us more help in the coming week. Wish us luck
I hope your weekend will be better!
