Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD) Support Group
Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD) an ongoing pattern of disobedient, hostile, and defiant behavior toward authority figures that goes beyond the bounds of normal childhood behavior. When a child cannot seem to control his anger or frustration, even over what seems to be trivial or simple to others, the child will often react in violent or negative ways to his own...

Things really slow down on this site in the summer don't they? Does anyone feel that their kids are more manageable while not in school? My son is. Things have been going pretty well with us with the exception of when we bring up school or therapy. I got an appointment with a really good psychologist out of Children's Hospital. I made the appointment over a month ago. I didn't tell my son until the night before because I didn't want him to freak out over it for too long. OMG, total melt down. He refuses to go and begged me to let him have a chance at the new school he starts next month. It was absolutely horrible. While we were discussing the issue a lot of things came out that had been bothering him. Things I had no idea about how he felt or thought of. I credit myself for this as I was able to remain calm and listen to him and not take offense or become defensive as he was shouting these things at me. I dedcided that I would cancel the appointment and told him that if he started struggling in school, he would have to go, period. He agreed. I feel like I caved in, but I really hate to spend $500 for him to go in there and refuse to talk like he did the last time I dragged him to therapy. So, I am giving him one last chance to work things out on his own. Will he be able to? Probably not, but he needs to see this on his own. I paid $225 for him to play football this season. We had to pay the fee in February. I asked him 3 times before I paid it, "Are you going to play?" He replies, "Yes!" Now he doesn't want to play. I don't even know how I am going to tell the coach, he was really looking forward to working with him and having him on the team. He's 13/8th grade and 6'3" and over 200lbs. This is the feeder team to the high school he will go to, those coaches have said they are excited to see what he can do this year. Part of me wants to force him to play, but really, that would just make him resentful and he wouldn't give much effort, not to mention the melt downs it will cause. Another part of me says to just suck it up and not make him play but make him work off the $225 that I will lose(no refunds!) What would you do? Other than these 2 things, which are pretty much about me and my feelings not his, he's been pretty good since school has been out.

My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus). I read this as one of the signs of an allergy. BUT I did just buy a different brand diaper yesterday (which they have used randomly before w/no issues). Do you think its the cereal or the diaper? Im ready to start...
Good Luck!
