My son (7, ADHD, ODD, plus some mood disorder) was put on 2mg Abilify last week, and so far so good the result is really great. This whole undercurrent of defiance, anger, and violence seems to be gone (with help of Clonidine which we started months ago).
However, for the last few days he has been complaining about feeling nauseous, generally crummy, and tired at times. Today and yesterday he fell asleep in the car at about 5pm, which is *totally* out of character.
Has anyone had similar symptoms with Abilify, and if so did they go away after a while, and after how long? I'd hate to take him off this med which seems to be doing its job if there is a chance he'll tolerate it long term, but right now he's suffering and that's not tenable either.

In my experience, the unpleasant side-effects go away within 10-20 days..
*you could also ask your Doc if you could give him half dosage for a week, then build back up-just a thought*
Good luck! I know it is hard to see your kid looking "drugged". Perhaps feeling tired is better than feeling angry..

Hang in there, i really think those side effects will go away soon!
But like others say..give it time. Maybe a snack right after taking it. I remember when I first took Cymbalta, I felt nauseous but it goes away. The body has to process it and get used to it. If its still a problem, mention this to the doctor and see what he/she says. good luck.
