Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) Support Group
Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) is a psychiatric disorder, more specifically, an anxiety disorder. OCD is manifested in a variety of forms, but is most commonly characterized by a subject's obsessive (repetitive, distressing, intrusive) thoughts and related compulsions (tasks or rituals) which attempt to neutralize the obsessions.
1) It gives me a much greater
understanding of and compassion
for anyone with a mental illness.
2) It completely stopped my habit
of biting my fingernails.
3) It helps to keep me sober; the
thought of blacking out and not
knowing what I did now that my
OCD is symptomatic is terrifying.
4) It helps me to KNOW that I'm a
fighter, and I'm strong, even if
I don't feel like it.
5) It puts other difficulties in
perspective.
6) The fear of OCD keeps me from
indulging in other addictions
such as, say, "relationship
addictions".
7) While OCD is, at times, hellishly
difficult, there ARE treatments
for it.
(Plus, I get to meet all you
great people.....)
