Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) Support Group
Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) is a psychiatric disorder, more specifically, an anxiety disorder. OCD is manifested in a variety of forms, but is most commonly characterized by a subject's obsessive (repetitive, distressing, intrusive) thoughts and related compulsions (tasks or rituals) which attempt to neutralize the obsessions.
I had them as well. The important thing is here to keep yourself busy with a task or hobby and make yourself concentrate on something else. Don't let the thoughts upset you too much. The less the anxiety and stress the less the OCD.
Meds take a while to "kick in." I don't know how long are you taking the meds. They say 6 week at least. I know that some can make the OCD get worse in the beginning. I had bad side effects from some of my meds. It took a long time for the doctor to get it right. But now it's fine.
Take care. Jerry
Anyway, worse thing is when I get intrusive thoughts, out of nowhere about people I know, like and even love! Get intrusive thoughts about wishing they were dead. It's awful. Makes me feel so guilty and wonder where it came from! Horrible. Really really horrible.
Also excellent therapy, someone who worked on cognitive behavioral therapy and dbt. good luck...hope all works out well for you.
I have thoughts of wanting to be dead as well, also with no intent of harming myself.
I have low self esteem & that sometimes triggers this thought pattern. I am working with a therapist through CBT to help change that particular thought pattern.
This is really hard, but I feel it's the right way for me personally. I would prefer not to be on meds, but everyone's situation is different, another person may need meds.
When I recognize the thought pattern, I stop for a few minutes & write down what I am grateful for & what makes me happy (my car is one of the things that makes me happy!). It takes time to develop a new response to a thought pattern, and I am trying my best.
I wish you all the best, too!

Do you really wish you were dead? Or do you just have the THOUGHT of "I wish I was dead."
