Sensory Thinking-Great for Intrusive Thoughts

Hey guys!
I just wanted to tell you about a simple technique of thinking that allows your brain to stop focusing on intrusive thoughts. I call it sensory thinking. It's sensory because you practice it by thinking about what you see, hear, smell, feel physically, or in some cases taste. For example, when I was walking home from school today, I started to have my usual intrusive thoughts about harm, and so I started to really pay attention to my surroundings. I watched cars drive by, listened to them get farther away, smelled the fresh air, felt the ground and occasional crunch of a leaf on my foot etc. You can also look at the various objects in your surroundings and think about what the sound/feel/smell/taste like. You just use all of your senses to think about what you perceive. I find it's very helpful in distracting your mind because in order to use these senses to interpret things your mind has to focus. It has a somewhat calming effect too.

Sweet of you to share your discovery. I use this technique as well. I also use it to help me fall asleep at night when I'm too busy in my headspace to just relax.

This sounds crazy but when I very first started medication a few months ago my intrusive thought were a lot worse than now. Well anyways I walk home from work sometimes its like a mile walk and one day when I walked home it started poorinf like I have never seen rain come down and I just focused on the rain and the thunder and how beautiful nature was and I remember saying man life is great and the thought were gone for a while. Anyways it felt good thats all I am trying to say.

My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus). I read this as one of the signs of an allergy. BUT I did just buy a different brand diaper yesterday (which they have used randomly before w/no issues). Do you think its the cereal or the diaper? Im ready to start...
