Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) Support Group
Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) is a psychiatric disorder, more specifically, an anxiety disorder. OCD is manifested in a variety of forms, but is most commonly characterized by a subject's obsessive (repetitive, distressing, intrusive) thoughts and related compulsions (tasks or rituals) which attempt to neutralize the obsessions.
This is the first time I'm saying this in my whole life....I am actually obsessed with pimples I had 30 years ago as a teen. Is that crazy?? Every freakin day I re-live popping the biggest pimples of my teen years. I shouldn't even remember each individual pimple...but I do. Where it was, how big it was, and what it was like to pop them. Thirty fkn years of thinking if big pimples! Is that a waste of my time or what?
What is this horrible decay of our minds?!
I'm in the 2% bracket for who they just don't work for...................I did get the side effects but no help.
But like i said i wouldn't consider me a good example cause i've tried 15 meds and nothing, no help.
As a religious person, you can try giving your thoughts/obsessions to God everyday. Give the responsibility to Him and remember that He CAN heal you, just be patient and try. Remember that it's not God, it's the devil.
And as for dealing with the HOCD... Sometimes you just have to go "Okay, so what if I am gay! Fine, I'm gay! Who cares, moving on." It can really help...
It's the bully theory. The bully is your OCD, and if you reject him, you fuel him, but if you agree with the bully, the bully eventually goes away. Think of it this way: You're back in elementary school and a kid constantly picks on you, calling you names and is just rude. Naturally, you fight back "No, I'm not!" "Leave me alone"... But if you were to reply to the bully with: "Okay, I am a loser" "You're right, I AM stupid." They eventually have no more fuel and have to back off.
(This scenario helped me the most...)
