Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) Support Group
Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) is a psychiatric disorder, more specifically, an anxiety disorder. OCD is manifested in a variety of forms, but is most commonly characterized by a subject's obsessive (repetitive, distressing, intrusive) thoughts and related compulsions (tasks or rituals) which attempt to neutralize the obsessions.

Hello, I am writing to update fellow members of the OCD Support Group, of how I have been doing this past month of May. I'll start by saying that my OCD has been very bad this May. It's been causing more and more problems. My obsessive-compulsive disorder has been very difficult for me , my parents and my brother. I wanted to say that there is only one positive thing which is being able to have stopped a bathroom compulsion which is stopping screaming in the bathroom. I feel a proud sense of relief and happiness as well. My family is proud is I've stopped this compulsion.
The areas,I am still struggling with are washing my hands somewhat excessively, using excessive amounts of toilet paper, using excessive amounts of shampoo and conditioner for my hair, taking long showers and baths, excessive shaving, checking to see if I've flushed the toilet and checking to see if thewater faucets are turned off.
There is some good news, I went to see a new psychiatrist on May 17th. The appointment went well. I ended up really liking the new psychiatrist. He was really understanding of my OCD. In fact on his website, it says he specializes in OCD. He was very caring, gentle and made me feel comfortable. That same day my family made an appointment to change from the psychiatric ARNP to the new psychiatrist. It is sad and hard for me to say goodbye to my psych ARNP. She was confusing and I had a hardtime understanding her. I am looking forward to my appointment with the new psychiatrist on June 1st.
I wanted to say I decided to go off Effexor because it wascausing
mealot of difficulty with side effects starting Saturday, May 28th. I hope the change will take away some of the side effects and I will start to feel better.
Take Care,
Silkroad

Congratulations on making the changes you have made. It takes great strength to do so yet it is a key to success for many. Not every therapist is right for every person and you need to find one with whom you have a better "connection." Stick with it; once you find the right match you should begin to move forward in ways that give you strength to carry on. Good Luck

My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus). I read this as one of the signs of an allergy. BUT I did just buy a different brand diaper yesterday (which they have used randomly before w/no issues). Do you think its the cereal or the diaper? Im ready to start...
