Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) Support Group
Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) is a psychiatric disorder, more specifically, an anxiety disorder. OCD is manifested in a variety of forms, but is most commonly characterized by a subject's obsessive (repetitive, distressing, intrusive) thoughts and related compulsions (tasks or rituals) which attempt to neutralize the obsessions.

In the past month of March had started out bad but got better slowly. In March, the rituals I succeeded at improving the last 2 weeks are not counting or screaming on the toilet. I am still working on straining, grunting, backbanging and squeezing. In my latest psychologist said she was very pleased and proud of me for being successful at not counting on the toilet. She asked how I felt and I told her that it felt good to be successful. This week I am working on not banging my back on the toilet and not counting in my head as much as possible in other places and situations than just in the bathroom. So far, I have been successful at not back banging which makes feel confident and felt I have had a higher self-esteem last week and so far this week. I am not sure if I've had any success with not counting in my mind so far this week.
The first time trying I ended up not banging my back ,even though I was nervous I'd mess up, but happy that I was successful. The other issues particularly squeezing, straining and (grunting) are frustrating for me, my parents and my brother to live with. They still get frustrated, just like I get frustrated. This is really embarassing and hard to talk about sometimes. The other area of success is not a ritual but something I've improved on is being able to hold a conversation for longer periods of time. The rituals I am still struggling with are excessive handwashing, excessive toilet paper and kleenex use, long showers and baths, excessive toothbrushing and excessive shaving.
As far as medications, I am still on Effexor, in my latest monthly appointment with my psychiatric registered nurse practitioner, she has just put me on 112 mg of Effexor. So far, the Effexor has helped me somewhat with ocd thoughts, obsessions and compulsions. Yet, I am getting more side effects than benefits. I am getting headaches, stomachaches, drowsiness, being tired alot of the day and night and watery eyes that sometimes blur my vision. It's frustrating when my med nurse does not listen to me about all of my concerns regarding my OCD Med. I am sorry in advance, if I sound like I am complaining.
I hope that I continue to improve and get better in the coming month of April.

My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus). I read this as one of the signs of an allergy. BUT I did just buy a different brand diaper yesterday (which they have used randomly before w/no issues). Do you think its the cereal or the diaper? Im ready to start...
