Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) Support Group
Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) is a psychiatric disorder, more specifically, an anxiety disorder. OCD is manifested in a variety of forms, but is most commonly characterized by a subject's obsessive (repetitive, distressing, intrusive) thoughts and related compulsions (tasks or rituals) which attempt to neutralize the obsessions.
Although I did and sometimes still do have funny habits iwth eating. Like there is always certain foods I can't eat if they are attatched to a certain thought or image. Or sometimes if I have a thought about "eating that particular food that particular day"... It can be tricky and sometimes I have gone hungry.
I'm not underweight though.
The thing that worked best for me was to talk about it, receive support, and distract myself with other activities, especially with friends. Mindfulness (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mindfulness_%28psychology%29) has helped a good deal with my current obsessions and compulsions.
Hope you find some help! HUGS.
