Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) Support Group
Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) is a psychiatric disorder, more specifically, an anxiety disorder. OCD is manifested in a variety of forms, but is most commonly characterized by a subject's obsessive (repetitive, distressing, intrusive) thoughts and related compulsions (tasks or rituals) which attempt to neutralize the obsessions.
Thank you for posting here, and welcome to the group.
I can sense that you're feeling distress. I think the situation you're in is tough - you really like this girl and want to be close to her, but she doesn't feel quite as strongly as you do. And it distresses you that you cannot stop thinking about her, even knowing this.
Whether or not this is OCD, it's interfering with your happiness. Please correct me if I'm wrong, but I sense a great deal of loneliness. It makes sense that if you feel lonely, you would be "obsessive" over wanting to be close to this girl the only way that you can (ie checking her social media accounts).
I wish I had some brilliant advice for you, but unfortunately, I do not. What I can say is to try to give yourself a little compassion for the way you're feeling right now. Gently acknowledge your feelings, while doing what is best for you. Since she doesn't seem to be as interested in you as you are in her, I think you are right that focusing on yourself is best. You seem like a really sweet and caring guy, and just because this one girl is busy with school or just not interested right now, does not mean there aren't others out there who will reciprocate your love and care. But above all, you must love and care for yourself.
