Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) is a psychiatric disorder, more specifically, an anxiety disorder. OCD is manifested in a variety of forms, but is most commonly characterized by a subject's obsessive (repetitive, distressing, intrusive) thoughts and related compulsions (tasks or rituals) which attempt to neutralize the obsessions.
On the contrary its proving to yourself that you are strong enough to recognise you need to make a change in your life so that you can progress out of the station your in.
Im about to arrange my first appointment with a counsellor too, i wish you luck and be very proud that you have made the hardest first step, it must get easier after this ;-)
all other illnesses for the most part; people discover they have them, they go straight to their GP and accept the medicine and advice etc without giving it a second thought.....
but as soon as its depression; the human-mind habitually goes straight into self-critics, embarrassment and feeling ashamed, which is quite sad, coz its probably more common in people then pretty-much most other illnesses tbh.
