Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) Support Group
Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) is a psychiatric disorder, more specifically, an anxiety disorder. OCD is manifested in a variety of forms, but is most commonly characterized by a subject's obsessive (repetitive, distressing, intrusive) thoughts and related compulsions (tasks or rituals) which attempt to neutralize the obsessions.
I've been working on mine for a few yr.s. Some of it I've been able to reduce by 1/2, others(the very minor sections) I've been able to eliminate all together, and then there are the large areas. There is one large area where I was able to modify a small area within it BUT that was it! The rest of that large area, along with ALL the other large areas, I've had to surrender to my H.P.. There are times where I don't do this perfectly and other times where I out right fail BUT I don't let that stop me!
The reason why I wrote this was so that you wouldn't feel so alone anymore and to encourage you! If I can do this so can you!; you have it within yourself to do so you just have to believe in yourself, lean on your Higher Power, and do the therapeutic work that is required!
OCD involves(but isn't limited to) having to do the same thing repeatedly! Tourette's,on the other hand, involves(but isn't limited to) uncontrollable movement of the limbs. I know about the OCD because I have it and I know(not a lot just a little) about Tourette's syndrome because my mother was a special Ed. teacher for a # of yr.s.
You should definitely go to a doctor, though, because their are med.s that can help with the OCD.
Best of luck to you!
