Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) Support Group
Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) is a psychiatric disorder, more specifically, an anxiety disorder. OCD is manifested in a variety of forms, but is most commonly characterized by a subject's obsessive (repetitive, distressing, intrusive) thoughts and related compulsions (tasks or rituals) which attempt to neutralize the obsessions.
To answer your question-Yes.
I am trying to not let things get to me, find tools/ways to get myself out of obsession, many I repeat to myself, out loud, that really helps me is to talk my way through, to say out loud the thoughts which seems to lessen their power and helps my rational part of my mind-I think there must be a part of ourselves that recognizes this, just as you are aware you do this-I use that to "talk to" to appeal to myself to end this endless thinking.
Distraction and keeping busy does help me a great deal, I work, with help from a state agency that got me back to work after years of panicking on the job, and being hospitalized. I work 36 or more hours per week, keep my self occupied as much as possible with chores, making sure I keep appts. I look for hobbies to do, things to distract, and while it may not last, those activities, done on a daily basis, I think they help in slowing down gradually the over thinking process. Practice, practice, and again keep practicing until it becomes second nature to ignore or distract ones self away from racing obsessive thoughts. .
And working on root causes of stress can eliminate my behavior that results from that.

For me I had to go back into my childhood to find myself. My journey took me to my escape from it all. My escape to be me. Now, I know why I'm the way I am. My thoughts never stop. But I live with them, now. I had to accept it all to be me. J
I'm actually really thankful I just came across your post. I too struggle with a really overactive brain and my thoughts sometimes are too much for me to even handle. Sometimes I don't even understand them, like they're just random words or sentences. And yes, I worry alllll the time. It's something I'm working on. Also, when I was younger I did the exact same thing (I still do it now but not too the extent that I used to) it was my coping mechanism as well. I was sexually abused and felt like no one understood me and because no one knew what was going on I would vent/talk to myself about my feelings etc. Yes out loud. I became aware that this was a coping mechanism only recently (I'm 21). You're not alone! And it's nice to know in not either :)
which is true in my case, for the past two months I have family and professional problem, so I am feeling too much depressed life seems to be meaningless and i am worthless. so I am not listening OCD .
