Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) Support Group
Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) is a psychiatric disorder, more specifically, an anxiety disorder. OCD is manifested in a variety of forms, but is most commonly characterized by a subject's obsessive (repetitive, distressing, intrusive) thoughts and related compulsions (tasks or rituals) which attempt to neutralize the obsessions.

My OCD is horrible at the moment.
I have been with my boyfriend for 9 months now, and everything was great until he got his new job at Toys R Us. I am happy for him that he got the job and gets more hours than he used to get with his other job, but things have changed because hes been so busy at work...
.Lately my thoughts and mind have been racing and i keep getting these intrusive thoughts that he's cheating on me or doesn't care or love me anymore.....its only because we don't talk as much as we used to because hes been working, which i understand.... But i cant help but think these things.
The other night, i was hanging out with my best friend and him, things were good at first and then, it just started going downhill.
He was being sarcastic with my best friend and accidentally hurt her feelings, and i tried to change the mood but then was ignored,(not on purpose), i started crying, she started crying he was confused and tended to her first..........it triggered me horribly... in my mind i was thinking about it like, im his girlfriend shouldn't he have made sure i was okay first.... and then my intrusive thoughts came, and they were that he doesn't care about me as much as i thought he did and he doesn't love me..... He apologized to her first... and then came and tended to me... and i just was so hurt... but my OCD wouldn't let it go. I wanted to move past it, but i couldn't... he did apologize to me and hugged me and stuff.... and my rational self kept telling me that he didn't choose her over me, but the OCD kept coming back and i kept thinking he did...... I'M STILL thinking about it. i don't know how to stop. I know he wouldn't cheat on me with her, and if he tried, she wouldn't allow and shes my best friend, ive known her for 9 years.....
Another thing that happened that night was that, i started talking about how i was sweating, and brought up a coworker from Toys R Us....all he was going to say is that she sweats like that too....turns out, this girl was one of the reasons why i dropped out of high school because she bullied me so bad and terrified me..... He had NO idea that was one of the people that bullied me. He said they don't really talk to each other, she just uses his computer in his department sometimes... which i believe him about, but My intrusive thoughts picked back up and i started to think that he's going to cheat on me with her or break up with me for her.... or something... I STILL also cant let that go.
I cried so much that night because my mind would NOT STOP. and it still HASNT/ i cant take it anymore....its gotten to the point that i just want to end myself........ I cant stand it. It feels like my mind is on repeat or something.... i even have nightmares that he cheats on me and stuff......
My boyfriend is a really good guy, and he's sweet and treats me good. Deep down, i know he wont cheat on me with her, and i know im being completely irrational, I didn't even really think about him cheating, until then......but i cant stop thinking about it and obsessing over it..... it hurts to the point where im actually MAD at him, when he did nothing wrong. He's a very patient person for sticking around through this.......i give him credit for that, most guys would be gone... but still.
My OCD is going to DESTROY my relationship with him because i don't know how to STOP IT or when to stop. I can tell its putting a strain on our relationship and its not fair. It terrifies me.... I love my boyfriend... but im at loss of what to do...even hes confused. He doesn't really understand my OCD... and hes afraid im going to break up with him........Does anyone have any advice on how to distract myself when the thoughts pop up so i don't go and bother him about it..... I REALLY do not want to loose him.......especially to this evil disorder....... :'(((

Hey, I'm really sorry your going through this. I'm dealing with a lot myself right now. I don't even feel like me lately. You have to try to not give in to those thoughts. I know it's hard. OCD can make you think so irrationally that it can be debilitating. You have to throw it over your shoulder as best as you can and keep walking. Trust me, your not alone and I'm here for you if you'd like to talk.

And if you ever feel like your a danger to yourself, please seek professional help immediately. Check online to see if you have a crisis services hotline in your area. There should be one that's open 24/7.

I remember when you had the schizophrenia obsession and I think obsession that you were gonna do something to your son. It's crazy how our minds go from one obsession to the next. How about going to a counselor together. That way he can understand your ocd more and learn to help. I think it would help with relationship tension!
