Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) is a psychiatric disorder, more specifically, an anxiety disorder. OCD is manifested in a variety of forms, but is most commonly characterized by a subject's obsessive (repetitive, distressing, intrusive) thoughts and related compulsions (tasks or rituals) which attempt to neutralize the obsessions.
I once threw away a mattress and box spring, (well, actually the whole bed) because I just started wondering when I bought it and I couldn't remember if I had it when I moved after a nasty flood in my apartment or if it was bought new after that.
I slept on a futon mattress for three years waiting to afford a new bed.
I still get jumpy if I have to take a cab anywhere because they are always at the airport and so many people coming in from so many places kinda gives me the creeps.
I guess the contamination thing is something all of us have to deal with in one extreme or another.
My advice would be to try and distract yourself with things that have nothing to with illness until you're satisfied the incubation period is over.
