Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) Support Group
Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) is a psychiatric disorder, more specifically, an anxiety disorder. OCD is manifested in a variety of forms, but is most commonly characterized by a subject's obsessive (repetitive, distressing, intrusive) thoughts and related compulsions (tasks or rituals) which attempt to neutralize the obsessions.
Maybe try a novena. I use the Lord's Prayer and say it three times, three days in a row the moment I wake up and I try to understand every word and really mean it. I thank him for all that he has given me and ask humbly if he will please... through the sacred heart of Jesus, and within three days, weeks or months, it's mine. Hope this helps.
YOur OK dont forget your mind is a like a computer that generates all kinds of images, thoughts, ideas, impulses its part of being human the difference with OCD is that we take everything at face value..ANXIETY will drive your mind to think the craziest things ever!! Anxiety can cause you to create all kinds of ideas and images!! I know this to be true!! THere is an old saying " what we fear we create" this does NOT mean that you are creating Schzophrenia in yourself it means that your mind is trying to force you to face your fears so you can move passed this!! our minds and bodies do take care of themselves sometimes we just have to listen...You are just caught in the idea...you are ok..I feel your pain I really do!! Hang in there...try to stay busy....another thing that helps me is to just sit or lay in a quiet place and tell myself "OK go crazy " go as crazy and you want" and you will be surprised at what happens...at first you will be scared to death and creating all kinds of crazy thoughts images and then you will come down and bit and suddenly you'll realize that this is just creativty at work...It has worked for me but, you have to be brave enough to face it..sometimes just saying hey if I am schizophrenic then I will deal with it and I will be OK..letting go can make you stronger! remember your brain is a creative computer and thats all thats at work here!! also schizophrenic people are not on OCD help sites asking for reassurance because they are afraid they have lost or are losing their minds!! take care of you!!
Like I said...you aren't losing your mind. THe images are driven by fear and your brain is trying to beat the fear if that makes any sense.
Do you abuse any substances or have you in the past? Having a few glasses of wine everynight is substance abuse.
