Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) Support Group
Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) is a psychiatric disorder, more specifically, an anxiety disorder. OCD is manifested in a variety of forms, but is most commonly characterized by a subject's obsessive (repetitive, distressing, intrusive) thoughts and related compulsions (tasks or rituals) which attempt to neutralize the obsessions.
I think it's wonderful that you and your parents went to visit this organization (you obviously have strong support from your family which is so important).
I continue a life long battle with OCD (mostly germ and contamination focused) and found that my life took a real turn for the better once I sought help for my OCD (I get how hard reaching out for help can be so I am so proud of you).
I think it's great that you recognize that you may not yet be ready to live on your own. I have always been less mature than my age and struggled to leave home (and my home town) to start my career when I was almost 26. Now that I'm 37 I really value the extra time that I had with my wonderful parents (versus some of my friends who left home much earlier). Do what is right for you (there is no rule book that says when we have to get out on our own).
Keep us (this forum) updated on how you are doing with NAMI.
Good luck!
Sarah
