Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) Support Group
Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) is a psychiatric disorder, more specifically, an anxiety disorder. OCD is manifested in a variety of forms, but is most commonly characterized by a subject's obsessive (repetitive, distressing, intrusive) thoughts and related compulsions (tasks or rituals) which attempt to neutralize the obsessions.
Many people, including me, have multiple disorders I battle. For me anxiety and compulsive eating are ones I battle. But my most powerful disorder is OCD. My doctor and I have both come to the conclusion that my other disorders are direct off-shoots to my OCD, yet they still have to be dealt with.
Either way you're on the right track getting help from a professional mental health counselor. He or she may refer you to someone who has a specialty in a certain disorder. Hang in there!
