Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) Support Group
Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) is a psychiatric disorder, more specifically, an anxiety disorder. OCD is manifested in a variety of forms, but is most commonly characterized by a subject's obsessive (repetitive, distressing, intrusive) thoughts and related compulsions (tasks or rituals) which attempt to neutralize the obsessions.
I'm not being cynical but pragmatic. There is no miracle cure for any mental illness. Yet.
I truly feel that if people are going to assume that my program is bad, they should be given the opportunity to see for themselves.
My goal is to help as many people as I can with OCD, however, sometimes people get mad at me because I do this for a living, I charge money.
I'm sorry if this offends some people, but everyone has bills, including me, oddly enough!
However, for those of you who care about getting great results and understand that what I mean by ocd gone in seven days is by doing weekly goals and sticking to them, then I'll give you a free sample of my work so you can come to your own conclusions.
Yours for mental freedom,
Derek J. Soto
Snake oil.
Personally I don't know if it's any good or not and there are a lot of charlatans out there looking to make a living off other's misery. But that doesn't mean we should lump it all together as being all bad.
At one time Sister Kenny's approach to treating Polio was considered controversial and ran counter to the conventional medical treatment at that time. Eventually her approach lead to what we now call 'Physiotherapy'.
What about the case were Augusto and Michaela Odone who created an oil that treats are rare condition that would have been terminal for those who had it. All this from a man who had no medical background whatsoever.
My point is that while conventional treatment for ocd should always be the first port of call for this illness, the medical model is stuck within it's own paradigms and sometimes a revolutionary approach comes out from left field which is usually rejected by the mental health professionals. Or at least initially anyway. (Which I do admit is good since rigorous testing is required to prove it's effectiveness.)
Now I'm not comparing Derek's approach to Sister Kenny or the Odones. But there may be viable alternatives out there that could at the very least help reduce the severity of someones ocd symptoms which CBT/ERP/Psychotherapy/Medication or anything else has failed to help.
I myself had Checking OCD for several years and developed my own system for coping with it using special memory enhancement techniques that I molded for my own use.
Before I created this system the longest it took me to do my checking and leave the house was one hour. I can now do it in 5 minutes. I no longer break my taps, nor my door locks or handles, I no longer check my pockets for my wallet every 30 seconds and best of all I have no anxiety that my house is going to burn down or flood or be broken into.
One time I rechecked the door so much I broke the key in half. Now I use a technique that I can explain in a few minutes that would I believe would help most people stop rechecking that their door is locked and have absolutely no anxiety when they left their premises.
I'm sorry this has been so long and I apologize if I've offended any one. OCD is one of the most difficult illnesses I can think of but be open to thinking that's unconventional while also being wary of the charlatans. There's an answer to every question out there and if no one has a solution for you then just maybe you'll be able to create your own.
I hope I don't get kicked out for posting this but thanks for reading anyway if you stayed to the end.
I'm just wondering, if fear and anxiety exist, without being diagnosed with ocd...yes maybe then we can just stop them???.... J
