Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) is a psychiatric disorder, more specifically, an anxiety disorder. OCD is manifested in a variety of forms, but is most commonly characterized by a subject's obsessive (repetitive, distressing, intrusive) thoughts and related compulsions (tasks or rituals) which attempt to neutralize the obsessions.

Hello everyone. Sorry i havent been on in a really long time. I just wanted to say hello to all my friends and also all new members. Alot has happened since i was last on and i wanted to share some thoughts and positivity...let me first just say to anyone reading that everything will be okay and you will get better. I know sometimes things can seem impossible and you dont see how you will ever feel better again or live a normal life. But you will i promise. When i was diagnosed with the extreme form of ocd i didnt kno what was happening. I could barely sit or stand without feeling nervous or bothered. But with time and cognitive behavioral therapy i started getting better. I started exercising everyday and changed my thoughts from scary and negative to supportive and positive. It took alot of work and dedication but it was worth it. One of the greatest things i learned is that positivity is contagious. Once i started being positive, i couldnt stop. So keep it up, be strong when you can and on your weak days remember that your going to get better. I am a living example so what im saying is the truth and there is always hope...i wish you all happyness and health and remember that happyness happens.

I went through a horrible time with ocd when I was a teen. I went through exposure therapy and it helped me to overcome alot of my ocd. my rituals stopped with alot. I still have it and some days can be extremley annoying as far as cleaning ect. But I learned light swtiches touching things and objects out of my head. its ok. I have had ocd since I can remeber as a five year old. with time it seems to get better. thanks for sharing your thoughts and i agree cognitive therapy is great for ocd. thanks for sharing.
