Ever sense i had my son who is now going to be a year next week, i have struggled with post partum depression. But for about a month now i have been having OCD about hurting my son, and its effecting how i take care of him. I dont even want to take care of him anymore because the fear of hurting him....and i feel like i might do it, but i KNOW its completely WRONG and i do NOT want to....please someone tell me this is just OCD....I really dont want to hurt him... i love my son..... :[

of course u would never hurt ur son. this is a very typical OCD symptom

I've had those same OCD thoughts many times. Just try to remember that it's only the OCDNOT YOu!!! I think OCD uses our greatest fears to attack us. The simple and logical fact is that you would never hurt your child. You feel bad for even having thoughts about hurting him. People that want or enjoy hurting others DON'T feel bad about hurting them. Don't let the OCD keep you from your sonthat would hurt him more in the endHe needs you.

hey there, post-partum OCD is really common. People don't talk about it, but there are a lot of people in the same position as you. Remember that thoughts aren't very important. It's natural to worry that if you think about something, you might do it, but actually thinking and doing are very disjoint from each other. I used to have the most disgusting thoughts imaginable, but once I stopped taking them seriously, they actually went away. I never thought I'd be free of them. Only when I honestly didn't mind living with them forever did they slowly over time go away. Well the meds help too :)

Your son needs you. Don't let the ocd interfere with you taking care of him. I have a baby son too, I know it's tough but hang in there.
