Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) Support Group
Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) is a psychiatric disorder, more specifically, an anxiety disorder. OCD is manifested in a variety of forms, but is most commonly characterized by a subject's obsessive (repetitive, distressing, intrusive) thoughts and related compulsions (tasks or rituals) which attempt to neutralize the obsessions.
Also, you are correct having OCD does not lead to you becoming a Sociopath or a schizophrenic.
I first went to mental health in 2012 with depression and anxiety and suidical thoughts. I got passed around that day to six different trainees/psychologists/psychiatrists for 1 hour each, where I repeated the same info over and over. I left that day with zoloft for depression and ativan for anxiety. The suicidal thoughts temporarily went away. I finally saw the same psychiatrist for more than one hour total and in early 2013 was diagnosed with Major Depressive Disorder, Social Anxiety Disorder, Agoraphobia with panic attacks, my self mutilation (cutting, tweezing, nail biting) was finally noticed and various dosage and medication changes thru 2013. Not sure if they are real diagnosis or not, but I was also told I was HSP (highly sensitive person) and ODD (oppositional Defiance disorder) due to law & legal problems. My problems kept getting worse and medications actually might have made my Primary problems even worse. On Jan.1, 2014, I quit taking all meds and scheduled appointment at Amen Clinic in Newport Beach. From 2/12-2/14, I underwent a ton of diagnostic testing including qEEG, 2 Spect brain scans and a dozen other questionnaire tests. I was diagnosed with ADD (non-hyperactive) with Frontal Lobe Syndrome. This dates back to my childhood and is a Primary problem. I am undergoing intense one-on-one therapy, entirely different medications that previously and I am getting better, slowly. I am sure I also have Autism Spectrum Disorder dating to childhood as a Primary, either high functioning HFA or probably Asperger's Syndrome.
I hope you are able to identify your Primary's and get treatment for them. Good luck!
