So, I work as an infant and toddler caregiver at a high quality children's academy (which means all the parents are well to do, and most of them are doctors and lawyers) Most of the parents are very nice and respectful to me, but ive had a couple parents treat me like crap and i got the feeling it was because of my weight, It was never just blatently obvious so ive always just sucked it up and moved on.
Currently, Ive had problems with one mother in particular. To begin with, her baby is a little bit chubby (but not fat by any means) and often times i would hear her making remarks about how fat her baby is and she needs to lose weight shes too fat, etc. I let it slide the first couple times though. One day her baby was eating a lot and she told one of the teachers to feed her less. "You can't be obese or they wont let you fly in airplanes" she said. At this point, id had enough. I let my Director know what she had said and she talked to the mother. The mother apoligized to me, which was awkward. I didnt want an apoligy really, just wanted the comments to stop.
The comments have stopped but now I have noticed her staring at me in discust. The first couple times i thought well maybe its just in my head. But yesterday i was bending over to pick up her baby and out of the corner of my eye i saw her staring at my legs in dicust. I just wanted to tell her "yeah i have fat legs huh?!" Or "Do you have a problem with my legs?"
I just dont understand what her deal is. I also just want to tell her Why do you even care that im fat? I take damn good care of your child and all you care about is that im fat.
I dont want to tell my director on her again, i dont want to say anything else about it, but i just wish she would stop being so ignorant. I feel like half the parents either stare at me or completly ignore me. Ive gotten to where i just want to quit my job and stay home and never leave the house. But i know i cant do that. It just hurts though you know? No one wants to get to know me because im fat.

My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus). I read this as one of the signs of an allergy. BUT I did just buy a different brand diaper yesterday (which they have used randomly before w/no issues). Do you think its the cereal or the diaper? Im ready to start...
Maybe I am lucky or maybe just very unobservant but I have never noticed anyone treating me any differently because of my weight.
When you say 'no one wants to get to know me because I'm fat', are you sure it isn't the other way round? Rather than other people not wanting to know you, could it be that you don't want to know them, because you are feeling down about yourself and that makes you more reticent and shy? So maybe what needs to change is not your weight per se but your self esteem and self confidence.
