Obesity Support Group
This community is dedicated to those of us struggling with obesity. Obesity is thought to be a significant risk factor in certain health conditions, leading to increased mortality. Find the support you need by sharing your story, asking questions, and learning from others on how they have coped.
I am so sorry you are going thru this. It can be a vicious cycle. Maybe start with your doctor to get your depression treated and get under a medical diet that you can live with and ask for excercise that don't involve walking, like swimming, etc.
My best to you.....
As for some work out options that might be doable, try water workouts if you are able to swim.
Also you can do "sit and be fit" style work outs. Believe it or not these can still help you lose some weight. If you don't have weights use cans of soup or veggies as weights. Also just move, any kind of movement more than you normally do is helpful. Make healthier eating choices where possible and set mini achievable goals so that you will see progress.
I wish you the best of luck, never give up! I always tell people, if you keep trying you may not have a 100% chance at success, but if you give up you have a 100% chance of failing. As Dory said, just keep swimming :)
Have you ever considered gastric banding. I know a lot of ppl that were quite big that got it done because they were in a vicious cycle they couldn't get out of and it has been quite successful.
I don't know how your health system works but here you can join a health fund for 12 months and they will pay most of the costs.
I don't know if that will work for you or not but for many of my friends it has worked wonders.
I hope you find an avenue that works for you and you can start o feel better soon
I am a good example, and I am not giving up.
I took steps first I started with making a plan, I listed what I can do like ask for help,
find two friends to hold me accountable,
found a small plate and glass and cup to make my meal feel special.
talked with my family and asked them not to tempt me.
Got my doctor to give advice
I checked out my options and decided that severe RNY gastric surgery (paid for by provence I live iin is not the way I want to go)
I has my medical from stem to stern, sleep apnea, BP, Cholesterol, etc all done, foound out I had H Pilori and yeast over growth in my digestive system,
and other stuff but I am doing good as I was treated.
Decided I would be the one calling shots.
I have changed my eating style, got out of house atleast 3 times a week volunteering helps.
went to a support group foor childhood abuse, and so on.
I am loosing weight not sure how much yet but I have a smaller pair of pant Iand I can just get them done up.
I an investigating a gym with a friend tomorrow, I had saved money for the gastric bipass so figure that will do better.
What ever you decide there are others out there who are going through it to. fiind them and do an activity together.
I have just given up. I seriously feel hopeless
You can do this. I know what it's like to not be able to do much exercise & I too have a bad back. Might not be as bad as yours, don't know. But if at all possible I really recommend water aerobics. It is great exercise we can do & it's fun! I also have some exercise CDs that you do from a chair. They do work. I have one that is aerobics, one that is yoga & one for Tai-Chi. I still have a lot to lose & I'm trying hard not to diet. That is something for me to break & I always do. I hope you will ask about the Wellbutron because it has helped me so much. I'm sure your psych wouldn't give it to you if it would cause you harm, but it has truly helped me with the compulsive eating. Sorry I wrote so much. I was going in to give you a hug & your journal caught my eye. Now I have said more than you or anyone else wants to hear. I just don't want you to give up. We can hold hands & push & pull each other when needed. JUST DON"T GIVE UP, IT IS DOABLE!, Tami
