I've been dieting almost 40 years of my 59 years alive. I never had a weight problem until about 21. I've done diets "perfectly". I've released weight only to gain it all back. I'm trying to do it differently this time. I want to eat like a "normal" person. If I learn how to forgive myself and not buy into the "all or nothing" thought process I'll be better off. That being said, there really are foods that are truly bad for me and I need to either limit or eliminate them. Pop was certainly one of the first I needed to get rid of. It is totally empty calories and loaded with sugar. The diet pop is loaded with sodium.
I'm starting reading the book "Fullfilled" and it is supposed to help one forgive themselves and view food in a totally different light. I have hope this might be the one diet book that will help me change the way I think about and view food.
I hope you all have a great day! Linda
Three weeks ago, Thursday, I started to just eat 3 meals and fruit for snack. It seems to be working. down 13 1/2 lbs so far. I think I will try the book you are reading. Hope it helps as it is all in the head really.
Good luck, Me
Congrad. your doing great.
It is a good thing to keep a list/journal to go by n learn by.
Now for the bad news. I did indulge in a candy bar from the gift shop in the afternoon. Im okay with that but know it will be one of the things I eventually add to my goal list in the next few weeks. I got on line this morning and checked the Wendys nutrition for the 2 items I ate for supper last night. The JR Cheeseburger Deluxe wasnt too bad. 350 calories and 27 carbohydrates (2 carb exchanges). I like to stay below 3 to 4 carb exchanges if Im splurging and still trying to be good for my diabetes. But OMGyou have got to be kidding on the parfait. It isnt that big. There isnt that much ice cream in it.about as much as is in a childs frosty. There is strawberriesnot bad. Then there is these hardened chunk of what seems to be pie crust. Now that I think about it, there might be some strawberry sundae syrup in it. Anywayget ready for this. 730 calories and 116 carbohydrates. Thats right 116 carbohydrates! Thats a total of 7.7 carb exchanges for the parfait or about 10 carb exchanges for my meal. I didnt check my blood sugar last night but I can just imagine it went through the roof. Who would have thunk it? Thats the second time Ive had it and I think it will be the last for the parfait.
Even with that though, I woke up feeling good about what Im doing and I dont feel out of control. Maybe next week Ill add some exercise. I hope all of you are doing well today!
