Hello all, I am new to the group, just started today so I'm not really quite sure how it all works. I just know that I need help from like minded people to keep me on track. I have been on the low carb no carb dieting roller coaster oh for about 10 years now. I don't think it ever gets any easier. I can do good for about 3 weeks, but deciding that it's ok to have a cheat day throws everything out the window. I always tell myself I'll just go off of the rails for one meal "which turns into one day", then the next thing I know it's been 2 weeks I've gained back every pound that I took off and am feeling like crap again. Is there any advice that you can give me to help me get passed my cheat day without spiraling downward. I get trying to stay strong and forget the cravings and all that, but for me it's so hard to get back on the right track the next day. I guess there is always not having a cheat day, but I think we should be entitled to have fun foods on occasion.

Can't wait to burn my pumpkin spice candle! National Coffee Day is coming up on the 29th so I hope to score up on a free coffee.

You are not alone. Many of us struggle to stay on track. I don't know what the answer is. It is difficult to stay on a plan and not change it. I have 3 meals and 2 snacks and cannot stay on track. I do not count anything, but I cannot even make it 3 hrs without food, so please know you are not alone. Maybe on your cheat day, quit carbs at a certain time. Everything is trial and error. It is hard to find what works for us on a continued basis, that is why maintenance is so hard. My best to you.....
Honestly, I see people who do low carb and know I just couldn't manage it. My hat is off to anyone who can for any period of time.
That said, do you think it would work for you to switch your plan and do slightly higher carbs every day to allow yourself a daily treat? No cheat days allowed -- but you'd get a little something special every day. I know this works better for me than complete deprivation. Every one is different though!
A low carb is really like a diabetic diet and very healthy search on line for cool recipies using alternitives to carbs like quinoa and hemphearts and chia as well as cauliflower and spaghetti squash and sweet potato for instance.
