Hello everyone,
I have been struggling with my weight for about a decade (I am almost 21 years old). Since I was around 11, I've struggled with my weight. I used to hike and go on walks almost daily with my mother while living at home, but I still struggled with maintaining my weight. As a young adult (15-18) I was around 165-175lbs. Now, as a junior in college, I'm about 225lbs. I am 5'7'' with a big bone structure but I have a long torso, short legs, and wide hips and shoulders.
As a college student, I definitely do not have my parents leaning over my shoulder and controlling my food intake, especially living 2,400 miles away. I have had incredible difficulties controlling my food intake alone. This is one of the only instances where I have little to no self control. I also emotionally eat and consume food when I'm happy, sad, nervous, anxious, and angry. I can barely control it but the guilt afterwards is intense but apparently not strong enough to facilitate learning.
I am constantly thinking about food and dieting. It is exhausting. I want to lose 50lbs and keep myself at around 170lbs. I just don't know how. Any suggestions? Anything helpful is eagerly wanted.
Thank you!

I'm horrified! I knew my insurance would go up due to getting a new car but I didn't expect it to go up over $2,000. I did have an accident with the snow/ice in the winter. I was just telling my brother that I have had my car since March 2, 2026 and have only spent $75 on an oil change. Now this! I called another insurance company and their quote was over $4,000. I guess I have to pay...

We all have 24 hours in a day. How we spend these hours is important. Watching a little bit of a video about how sitting affects us made me aware of how much sitting and laying down I do. Gonna have to work on that.Your turn. Tell me another truth.
I didn't know what to tell you. Its not that we are snubbing you and I can't speak for the others, I just did not have any new advice... calories in vs calories out, exercise, eat veggies, I'm sure it's stuff you know and don't have to be told again.
We are not rude to new ppl. When we have something we feel is worth adding to a discussion we do. It doesn't matter if the person is new or been here awhile.
I hope you will give this group another chance. Maybe if you read some of the older posts you will find what you are looking for. ??
Slow changes are best. I would suggest a journal of what your eating. Planning meals help me and healthy snacks. Even with a sweet tooth you can find healthier options to help. Walking is easiest exercise to start with.
I always start with few small changes. Then add to that. I need tonlose 50 to 60 lb myself. Good luck.
