I do agree with retiredrose - I'm 59. I've lost weight before and it seems this time around it's slower. I totally get wanting the change for your health.
Are you tracking your calories or exercise by any outside means? I use a food tracking website (there's a bunch of them out there) and wear a fitbit tracker.
I had initially thought I was doing well when I first started. I found out that I was actually eating more calories than I realized - and burning fewer. I've found a combo of numbers that allows me to drop about 1 lb a week...sometimes a bit more, sometimes a bit less. And of course, I have to hit that magic combo of calories/carbs in vs calories out. I've also found for me that even if I am right at my calorie goal, if I'm too high in carbs the weight won't move. I don't have it in me to go low carb -- but I have gotten rid of a lot of carbs that I used to eat and that seems to help.
Honestly I don't think that magic combo is the same for every body or every person's eating preferences. I think we all have to work thru finding a way we enjoy eating that is good for our health AND helps drop the weight. Sometimes that can be a trial and error process.
