Childhood","Nutrition is a science which studies the relationship between diet and states of health and disease. Between the extremes of optimal health and death from starvation or malnutrition, there is an array of disease states that can be caused or alleviated by changes in diet. This community focuses on nutrition best practices for young children."
My children are adopted from Ethiopia, so I learned they people with darker skin produce less vit D for the sun. If you are nearly transparent skinned Irish, then 10 minutes is supposed to be enough.
It also depends on the "quality" of the sunshine. Brighter, hotter sun, less time needed. Cloudy overcast and you might need 4 hours.

try vit d fortified yogurt and milks. i prefer silk enriched coconut milk, tons to choose from.
yogurts and keifers are good too but watch for high sugar.
i hate supplements but if needed use a natural plant based with calcium(calcium citrate not carbonate.
Mega supplements are very common... and can be dangerous.
I take the vit d plus calciium chews... I like the fruit smoothie swirls...
It is best to take with a meal that has some fat content for absorption..
otherwise look for Vit D in fortified milk. i drink the silk Coconut... yum
I use Wellesse brand Calcium Citrate with vitamin D, which is in liquid and can but stirred into a meal.
If your doctor put you on a mega dose, it could be that you just need more reasonable dose in another mix.
