kelly,I have small fiber neuropathy also. Try to gain as much info as you can about this disease. Suck thing is there isn't a lot out there. I take neurotoxin also, 1800mg 3x a day, it helps a bit. I'm also on pain meds that help. Sometimes it gets so bad though that nothing seems to help. Did you? I hope you feel be-tree soon and it doesn't progress for you.

yeah I am having trouble finding any information other than the generic statements floating around the internet. Next week I will get more info from my neuro on the extent of the nerve damage. I have not been prescribed any pain medications What has been prescribed has not really helped my pain at all. thanks for replying to my post!

Ultram/tramadol helps my small fiber pain. I also take Lyrica and Alpha Lipolic Acid.

Massage machine helps too.

to really fin dinfo you need to talk to docs and research pubmed pages, medical resource pags. everything on webmd, etc is generic and not very helpful. sometimes the way it is described is nothing like the way we feel. good luck and feel better.

I have the same thing, when they find the correct cocktail of meds for you it will be a big help. I take neurontin, cymbalta , mentanx and alpha Lipoic Acid. Good Luck!

Hi. I have small fiber neuropathy (diagnosed 2008) as well due to alcoholism in my younger years (boy did I have fun, but I'm paying for it now). I have tried all of the meds (Neurontin, Cymbalta, Lyrica), and the only one that helped at all was Neurontin ( I was actually taking Gabapentin, the generic version). It did not help that much, but it did a help a little. But I didn't care for the side effects, and over prolonged use, they can actually do more harm that good. I have literally tried just about everything from Chi Machines, massages, chiropractic, acupuncture, the rebuilder, tons of different supplements (ALA, Benfotiamine, etc......). I will tell you what I have found that has help me most. I know everybody is different, so what works for one person, doesn't work for another, but I drink two large blender fulls of organic fruits and vegetables everyday. Mainly spinach. I consume about a pound of spinach everday. I mix that with apples, bananas, celery, chard, collard greens, etc.... I know it seems like old folk wives tails, but I'm telling you it has worked wonders for me. I have been doing this for about 3 months now, and I would say my symptoms have improved about 50 to 60 percent. Give the body what it needs and let it heal itself. I trust in natures ability to heal its own creation, more than I do trust a manmade drug which only masks symptoms. If you try, be sure to use organic greens. Commercial produce is loaded with contaminants and just does not have the same nutrient content that organic produce does!! I wish you the best. I hope I have helped, even if it's just a little bit.

gking: thankyou for the link for gabapentin. I've been taking it for probably 4 years. It stops my feet from feeling numb and tingling. It does not stop the pain in the feet when walking on sand or anything larger than that. Does anyone have a waddling gait from peripheral neuropathy?

Why do doctors keep prescribing gabapentin if it can cause such problems? If it's so bad it should be illegal. Right now if I try to stop taking it the pain is major bad.
