hi Wes - my insurance will provide one for me, but only if i have to use it in my house. it is a given that i will use it outside the house but they will not approve it for that. a scooter will not fit in my house. i ended up purchasing one from a lovely couple on my local craigslist. i spent three hundred on it, but they were planning for whomever bought to be in caring hands and had just installed new batteries - they even brought it to me. people are surprisingly kind often times. definitely worth it to help the marriage!

i don't always use it, but most of the time i do. i love the freedom it gives me - i can just zoom over to my pharmacy or grocery store - it is great to be able to say a cheery hello here or there and be out and about more. mine goes really fast - be careful - no kidding!

Wes: I just received a Hoveround and I have not lused it outside yet. I find it diffficult to steer in the house. When you try and get one make sure you tell them you only be using in the home. I was turned down by the "scooter store" (which was raided and put put of business). If you search for scooter store on computer you will find some sites you can call. FYI Please also search for complaints against hoveround on the IE. I take gabapentin which helds,n I've tried Lyrica and Cymbalta and they were not worth the cost when I get in the donut hole. Good luck and keep us posted. BTW the Hoveround does fold up somewhat but it is very heavy. They do sell a rack to putin on the car.

Check all those sites that sell stuff and even look for estate sales. You may find a good used one, cheap. My father in-law had 3, but we already gave them away to good homes. I don't like going out either due to pain, so I understand your dilemma. Take care, Blaine

I go to stores that have electric scooters. I have two rollator walkers one which converts to a transport chair.
