" I know we get exhausted and we don't want to tell the story again cause we just barely made it through the damn day and to write it again in journal or to talk about it with another person who may not get it seems futile. However; if we do not educate the rest of the world we will slowly lose our rights, especially now with all that's going on with good docs having their license pulled, clinics shut down, records taken for court prosecution, and all their legitimate patients basically black-listed from any medical help in the areas they live from misinformation and the lies and the ignorant believing what they are told by professionals with a differing view and beliief than our good docs and us....... the ones who experience this truth every minute every day. some of us for decades of our lives now. Boy. is that a "run-on-sentence .or what??? I wonder what the real doctor, Patch Adams thinks about what the "War On Drugs" is doing to the sanctity of the medical profession in our country... this is the United States Of America....... AMERICA........ this may be happening around the world but here is the only place I know which is free to stop it from continuing from happening. There is a web site I employ all of you who haven't visited it yet to visit. It is a site begun by a woman who's husband died from his chronic pain from being under-medicated alone in a hotel room. He left his wife and a son who has the same disease he had which caused the chronic pain condition. This woman is currently being prosecuted by our countries legal system and is and has been harassed by the people running the so called "War on Prescription Drugs." All over our country docs and patients alike are being set against each other. The sacred relationship between patient and physician has been ruined by these people and their war. We are now afraid of our truth, the reality of our conditions and being able to tell our doctors the truth, and our doctors are frightened we are either drug seeking to get high or we are informants for these people and their federally run war. There are doctors who have had their whole lives and their families ruined because of the ignorance of our conditions and the facts of what the medications can and cannot do for us.
I understand because I have been to ill to do much myself to encourage the education of everyone about how we and our doctors do not belong in the middle of this fight. But I could have I will now write down my whole experience and do my best to get the information out to who ever can use it to educate the ignorant of our society, ignorance is a terrible thing, I've seen it do a lot of damage to relationships of all kinds, from being born in 1960 In the middle of San Fransisco and the ignorance of the Vietnam war to the ignorance of the Civil Rights Movement which was still going on when i was born.
Nothing has ever been changed for people who are the minority of anything with out education of the facts to the general public and those in we put in power by our votes or our lack of voting.
If we do not want our children, and 2 of my daughters are afflicted with my condition, I am sure some of your children or grand-children will be afflicted with conditions which are hereditary, if we do not want them to live in a country which will not treat pain by any means which works and is medically safe, then we need to do something.
Write our story down in matter of fact words telling the truth of our experiences whether it is good or not and putting it together with other stories and getting them out there is really the in my opinion the smallest of activities we can suffer through to educate.
I hate writing in my journal. Hate is not too strong of a word. It makes my pain real and I have to look at it a second time after I just finished barely making through the day. It makes me remember it is real when I try to live in as much denial of it as I can daily. I just want to be well and normal like other people. it makes my inabilities real when I just wish I could work for living again. It makes me remember my closest relationships have been changed because of my pain. It makes me realize my helplessness, the fact that i cannot do anything really to change it. Mine is progressive and it will get worse over time.
But, I don't want my kids nor my grand-kids, nor their kids to have to have experienced some of the things I have had to endure.
Please think about it. I don't know how nor do i know whether i would be able to do much with my condition, but I am willing to try and i hope at least some of you are.
Go see the web site with the truth of what is happening out in the world while we are in our homes dealing with our unrelenting chronic pain conditions. After you've read some think about if you are willing to at the least sit, lay down, tell it into a tape recorder, type it, however, and no matter how long it takes you to finish it and then at least submit it to the web site, and maybe by the time we have our stories together there will be another avenue we can submit them to also.
