I'm sorry its come to this and I know how you feel. I don't have a cane but walk with a very obvious limp, people often ask what happened or I hear them talking when I pass. On one memorable occasion a little boy asked his mum why the old lady was walking funny lol. I can laugh about it now but since I was 41 at the time it damn hurt. I've now decided I dont care what I look like limping along because if I let my embarrassment rule me I'll never go out at all and I'm stuck at home enough as it is.

I really feel for you going thru this at 25 but maybe you can try and think of the cane as something that helps you and allows you to get out and about. If random people ask why you have one you could just say your recovering from an op or accident? Or tell them its none of their damn business lol.

I wear glasses to help me see better. I often use a cane to help me walk better. My husband resists using his cane. Yesterday we went to the flea market. I used a rollator walker. He used nothing. I had to keep sitting on my walker to wait for him. If you need a came get one that is sized right and get one that makes a fashion statement. I have found that sometimes little kids can be afraid of the cane. I let one little guy use it. I explained that it helped me walk and keeps be from falling down. I once had a woman stop me in a store and asked me if I was embarrassed to use my rollator. I told her no. I asked if she would rather be shopping or sitting in the car. Live your life as best you can and use the aids for daily living as you need them.

When people ask you questions that you don't feel like answering you can turn in back on them. Ask them why they ask.
