My husband still laughs when he tells this story.

I was in one of my sleep attacks, where I'm unaware but I'm running/walking around, acting like a small child (even my voice is off).

Anyway, I was looking for our Maine Coon cat and I couldn't manage to communicate it to him. He says what I did instead was make the peace-sign with both hands and put it to my cheeks and said "Whiskers!" and then I waved my hand behind my butt and said "Fuzzy Tail!"

He said I was adorable, lol, and the way he says it makes me understand-- he's cute when he imitates it :)

i remember being a kid and my dad would talk to me before going to work (he worked midnights) but i wouldnt remember it. and my parents used to always say it didnt matter where we were... i could fall asleep. so apparently i have had it for most of my life just didnt know that that was what it was! i know this isnt funny stuff thats happened to me... i know i have done stuff that was funny but i cant think at the moment of any particular time.

I know I've said many funny things while half asleep because my boys (well, their grown men) will later tell me about them. I can only recall one where my son said I told him and a friend of ours that my mother was buried in a Jewish deli. My son still laughs about that to this day.

But talk about embarrassing. A few years ago I had a date over. Actually it was our first real date, and it started early on a Sunday morning when we went to church. We later did a little grocery shopping as he was going to make us dinner at my place.

After dinner we sat and watched a movie and as it got late, as we sat on my leather sofa, he asked me if it was okay to kiss me goodnight. I said sure. We kissed. Well, the kiss ended and immediately I felt my arm go weak and with that I went into a full fledged cataplexy attack. I slid off the leather sofa onto my floor, kind of sitting in a sideways heap, leaving my left arm perched on the sofa.

Now, my cataplexy attacks can last a long time (up to an hour and a half), and I never know what to expect. But as I lie there in a heap, so utterly embarrassed, I prayed that the Lord would just take me right then. Just kill me now. I did NOT want to come around and face this poor man, who I'm sure wondered what on earth was going on.

It probably lasted ten minutes, and finally I could move, though I was very out of it as I usually am after an attack. I apologized, he said no problem, and I saw him to the door. I found out later that he thought I had merely fallen asleep. Fallen asleep??? How many people fall asleep at the end of a goodnight kiss and slide onto the floor into a heap?

I am a substance abuse counselor for teen boys. I had an attack during a session. I kept saying things like"uh hu" "go on" toward the end of the session I flt the oh so good sensation of waking up. I asked the young man if the session met his needs and he said it did. I still felt embarrased.

I have done tons of crazy things, but one of my boyfriend's favorites was a few months ago, when we were watching tv and I fell asleep (of course!) and he told me it was time to go to bed. He said I looked at him and started pointing at the window, and said:

"The ghosts.... the ghosts...the ghosts in window are following us for statistical purposes."

He took me to bed. haha!

Another time I fell asleep in the middle of a spinning class at the gym! I kept moving my legs though...
