I get very hungry right as I lay down to go to bed, why? who knows. I eat a light snack, or drink a glass of milk to avoid so many calories. But actually waking up with out knowing it and eating, can't say that I do that. Interesting though. I know there is a condition for that but I don't remember what it is called. Try a google search fo sleep eating and I will bet you can find all kinds of things on it. Good luck!

I've eaten some bizarre things before. Like...pistachios with the shell on..ouch, dairy spread, semi cooked foods, cold spaghetti, and so on. It always happens when I'm having a bout of automatic behaviour and I never remember a thing about it afterward. I also find the more tired I am the more I crave fast carbs.

i tend to eat during the middle of the night (when i've been up for hours) - i think it's a combination of anxiousness, boredom, and genuine hunger. after all, you eat breakfast around 9AM; four hours later it's lunchtime; 5 hours later it's dinnertime; 5 hours later, you should be asleep...but you're up, for hours more than that, so you naturally get hungry...i think?

know what you mean alright, wake up half asleep and craving something sweet and then its goodbye fridge and ..."get `us a bucket!!". Worst is realising the next day the amount of crap you`ve eaten, usually enough carbs for the week.

My daughter woke up around 10pm last night went into the kitchen, put ravoli (that she had made earlier) into a bowl put it in the microwave, heated it up, took it out of the microwave and into the table, sat down and started to put a bite into her mouth to eat it, I went over to her and stopped her, I had to wake her up. Told her that the food was too hot to eat, but I still couldn't get her awake. When I told her that she did all of this through sleeping, she couldn't remember a thing. This is the first time that I am aware of that she has done this. When she was about 6 or 7 she went through a bout of sleepwalking for a couple of years. But that eventually stopped, up untill now. She was lucky that I watched what she was doing or she could have burnt her mouth really bad. I guess I am going to have to keep a better eye on her for a while.

Magiksmom, I did something similar a few weeks ago with tagliatelle(I've done it with cheese ravioli also). You know when you suck up strands into your mouth. I did this quite a few times right out of the microwave. I didn't notice until later when I woke up from my post meal nap that my lips were really swollen. Boy the ulcers were seriously painful afterward. Shows how dead to the world you can be when in automatic mode.
