Narcolepsy Support Group
A sleep disorder (somnipathy) is a disorder in the sleep patterns of a person or animal. Some sleep disorders can interfere with mental and emotional function. If you are having trouble falling asleep or having some other kind of sleep disturbance, this group is for you.
Having a pet in bed with me also helps when I wake up and can just reach down and pat them to bring me back to me.
There are several sleeping pills that might help you get off to a better kind of sleep and several to avoid as they actually give you nightmares!!
What meds if any are you on? There are some that have side effects like nightmares which for a PWN is just so ridiculous, so check those out first.
I've actually rearranged my room so that my bed is up against two walls that way if i wake up terrified I can put my back up into the corner to try and feel safe, doesn't always work.
I've tried everything i can think of to explain to my parents the benefit of my having a dog. When i take care of my aunts dogs they sleep in the room with me and the nightmares aren't soo bad. But "they're not ready to have a dog".
I'm not on any meds for N, but I"m on several others for other health issues but i dont think they have done anything to increase the nightmares.
i tried a generic store sleeping pills and they're ok, i mean i dont wake up as much throughout the night but still have nightmares.
The only thing that helped was one night I fell asleep while on the phone with the guy i'm seeing and he told me that at one point he could tell i was starting to have a nightmare and he just talked to me, didn't wake me up, just said things like "i'm here" and "its ok baby"
i have started writing out the nightmares i have and my dad read a few, said i should sell them to filmmakers. not helpful but funny.
ok i'm done rambling lol.
I used to love Stephen King books, and now I never touch them, I don't watch horrors anymore either and I used to love them, Studies show we keep those kind of things in our minds when we go to sleep so without them I did notice a difference like marcia said.
Writing them down is good, I used to have a dream notebook. I got told they would be great movies etc too lol Some of the worst nightmares still freak me out today, i can still remember them vividly and how I felt after waking up etc.
Some people don't realise that PWN have really really vivid nightmares, its not like normal nightmares.
Here in the last few days though they have come back & they are scary. The good thing is they might wake me up & I am freaked out, but I go right back to sleep & don't remember them when I woke up. I mean I remember I dreamt something & that it scared me but don't remember what it was. So in that area I am lucky.
What seems to be getting worse for me too is he HH. I hate it! It is hard to tell HH from reality sometimes.
My biggest fear is that there will be a fire or someone break into the house & I will think it is a dream. That right there makes it very hard for me to sleep much. Hopefully it's something that will pass.
Hugs to all,
Troll Kimmers
