I have been seeing signs for many years now that I have N but never wanted to admit it to myself that i need help. I am 29 and it has been going on since high school. I have seen how it has affected me and my relationships. now that i have 5 kids with my wife it is getting really hard to stay focoused on one single task then i forget what im doing because i am always so tired. I recently lost my 'Dream Job' because i fell asleep... standing up... sanding a board... and talking to my supervisor. i fall asleep standing up, sitting down, driving, really anywhere. i have been blowing it off my sholder like 'I have 5 kids im just over worked and exhausted'. i saw my doc. about 2 weeks ago and i am going in for the MSLT in a month (unfortunately they could not get me in sooner). but my doc is bassically telling me i have N and he pretty much just needs the proof before he will allow me treatment (obviously).
since i saw him i have been STRESSED about things like:
what are the meds going to do for me and how are they going to make me feel?
what kind of job should i look for? (big one for me)
will i be allowed to drive any more?
How long will it take me to get on the correct meds so i can function "like a normal human"?
could this be why i cant even do the dishes all at one time and have to take breaks?
how do i get my wife and kids to understand how im feeling? (biggest one)
and why did this happen to me? (in 2012 i battled cancer and won, 2015 my wife carried me out of our burning house, among other life changing events)
how much will the meds help me? 10%?30%?50%?66%?73%?100%?
can cataplexy make parts of my body (like arms, hands, and toes) randomly go numb or be very cold or would that be something else?
im just so confused about it all and just while wrighting this i lost train of thought several times and fallen asleep twice and didnt even realize it untill my vision was blury. when i got fired from my dream job i had no idea i was sleeping untill my super woke me up screaming at me determined that i was a drug addict or a drunk so i told him to send me in for a tox screen i said i would pass with 'flying colors' before he screamed get the out of my shop before you kill someone (with cursing i left out). and this is not the only job i have lost or quit due to over tiredness or falling asleep on the job. i just want some answers, please im so lost in my own head. can someone please help me out here?
Just wanted to add in another question: if I am awaken and not by my on means could it cause lashing out a fit of rage for a few minutes that I don't even remember before 'coming to my mind'?

I haven't written in my diary on my computer since May because I thought that my computer was dying. I got away from writing but my computer is hanging in there. I think that I will start writing in it again. It's so therapeutic.

First, I hope everyone is doing well, and continuing to fight that good fight! Keep up the great work on yourselves; I'm rooting for all of you!So, I started doing therapy at the beginning of the year, when I was in my most depressed state, but with my therapist, I made big changes and steps in the right direction. But, over a month ago, she couldn't take my insurance anymore, and I had to stop...
I monitor this forum in hopes that the dialog will begin, but so far. . . Sigh. . .
Still, hope springs eternal. . .
