I am new to the site too and still in a daze about being diagnosed with narcolespy. I have only been recently diagnosed and its been a struggle to finally come to terms with it.
I find myself very lucky in that I only have a mild form of narcolespy. I am still able to work at the moment and taking each step at a time, as there are no quick fixes to this illness.
I have been suffering in slience for almost 4 years. Although my long term partner suffered the most I guess and couldnt cope with the excessive sleepy ness. I had been going back and forth the gp for 3 years when one gp suggested that i was slightly over weight and lazy.
my partner finally left and we are still going through the divorce. I had to move out of our home and struggle with daily work.
all this happened prior to being diagonised.
so i understand completey where your coming from.

So, I retired from teaching. I have found the only type of job I can do effectively is one that requires me to be on my feet most of the time, and doesn't last longer than 6 hours unless there is a 1 hour lunch break instead of 30 minutes.
