A sleep disorder (somnipathy) is a disorder in the sleep patterns of a person or animal. Some sleep disorders can interfere with mental and emotional function. If you are having trouble falling asleep or having some other kind of sleep disturbance, this group is for you.
i will have to think about funniest place there are a few lmao
I don't think I have fallen asleep in all that funny of places, but there are a few.
-During my four year undergrad, I don't think I stayed awake for a single full class. I tried to make it look like I was looking down at my notes, and I would hold my pen in hand on the desk. I don't think I was all too convincing though - I've had to be woken a few times by people sitting nearby because I was moaning or mumbling in my sleep.
-I've fallen asleep in the middle of parties. This includes at bars, house parties, and in the middle bed of a hotel room that had at least 15 drunk people all around me, celebrating Canada day.
-The funniest narcoleptic experience I have had was not so much falling asleep, but starting to dream a bit too early. Luckily this wasn't a frightening hh, but a more pleasant one. In the middle of intimacy, I had some really neat hallucinations about egyptians and pirates (separately, not at the same time).
I imagine that you all already know this, but a near drowning can be really dangerous hours after all of the vomiting and coughing has stopped, and the person is awake and alert. So if and when this kind of thing happens, get thee to the ER to get checked out. I know it's a pain, takes forever, and that the ER is a truly miserable place for a PWN who can't stay awake, but on the other hand it's possible the trip could save you from further complications, or save your life.
Here's a Medline quote from the site below:
"All near-drowning patients should be checked by a doctor. Even though the person may revive quickly at the scene, lung complications are common. Fluid and body chemical (electrolyte) imbalances may develop, and other traumatic injuries may be present."

And there is an incredibly detailed and terrifying description of the possible effects of near drowning at an emedicine site. It seems to be aimed at medical professionals, but enough is understandable to the layperson to convince one to get themselves to the ER after inhaling/swallowing bathwater, even for a short time.

Take care of yourselves, you guys!

AT DISNEY WORLD, LUCKILY HUBBY WAS THERE TO CATCH ME!
Falling asleep on the toilet - so many times i cant possibly count. Legs so numb i couldnt get off the pan! Became a bit of a joke when i was working... Very very very happy i'm not working now.
Buses, yeah i've been there. Waking up miles after your stop having to ask the bus driver where the hell you are and how to get back to where you meant to get off... In taxis - hmmm guarenteed to make them think they've got a drug addict...
Museums - managed only just to make it to the only chair in the vicinity, came round to a gaggle of grannies tutting and giving me very dirty looks, then i noticed the sign above the chair saying it was reserved for the elderly... Fine, i thought, I'd like to see what they'd have thought about stepping over me on the floor...
Although, if I slip under, it scares me, gives me cataplexy and the hubby has to save me from drowning yay I hardly take a bath if I'm home alone.
Fallen asleep at parties/nightclubs.
Fallen asleep when working in call centre, can't remember if or how i ended the call with the customer, just woke up to see lines of ssssss's across my screen where my finger was resting, should have been zzzzzzzzzzzz's really lol.
Fallen asleep in cinema on first date with a guy quite a few years ago, cinema is just a complete no-no for me now.
Fallen asleep in bath, my ex (who was still a friend) came round for dinner, but i hadn't had time for shower that morning (overslept of course!) so said i'm just going for quick bath. He came looking for me over an hour later, and got the shock of his life when he found me, he thought i'd drowned, for some time after that he told me to always phone him before i went in bath and when i got out.
Fallen asleep just as train was pulling into my station, where my dad and brother were waiting to pick me up. Woke up as train was pulling out of station, didn't even know i'd been asleep, phoned my dad and said the train didn't stop, he said it did, it was stopped for 2-3 mins. I had to stay on for another 30 miles then get off, and run like hell with my luggage to other platform, down and up huge stairways, to only just catch the train going back to my station.
The last few weeks I have been suffering really bad with EDS, been on long-term sick for 18 months, but rather than getting better i seem to be getting worse. Also i started on another med that causes 'urinary hesitancy' (what a ridiculous side-effect!) so often have to sit on toilet 5 mins waiting to pee, and at least 3 times in 3 weeks i have fallen asleep sat on toilet, been there for over an hour each time.
Worst case of Automatic Behaviour - i was on holiday in Spain on my own and wanted to go visit the Mezquita in Cordoba. I didn't realise the bus ride was over 6 hours each way. I get the bus there, i find my way through the town, trying to ask the Spanish for directions and trying to understand the answers, find the Mezquita and walk around this big courtyard thinking there must be more to it than this, came back outside to look for another way in, got harrassed by some Spanish gypsies, next thing i knew i'd found my way back to bus station and travelled long 6-hour journey back to my hotel, most of which i slept, rang my aunt later that night to tell her i'd visited the Mezquita she said i must try and see, wasn't it beautiful she said, well i expected more than just a courtyard with a few trees i said. We realised because i'd got sidetracked by the gypsies, and i was so tired from the journey, i must have had an immense episode of automatic behaviour and completely forgot to go into the Mezquita, still lmao when i think of it, but have never been able to face the journey again.
