Yes, I've had that feeling (at least how I interpret it), and in and the areas you're talking about...my gluteus medius/minimus, IT band, SI area...I don't think unusual.

When I push on them they definitely have a burning sensation, but not when I leave them alone. When I leave them alone, they just tighten up and stretching them is akin to stretching bad elastic.
