The first time I remember pushing myself beyond what I could do was before I even knew there was a problem. In fact, I didn't realize it at the time but look back and see clearly now. My little dog (who also suffers from stupid and stubborn) ran away and I chased him about three blocks down the street toward a very busy intersection, screaming and cursing him the whole way...."if I catch you I will keeelll you!". About a block and a half into the chase my knees started giving out. I'm sure I was a sight to see, running and stumbling, knees akimbo. I did catch him just before he did himself in. I had to lie in the grass next to the road, clutching him to my chest and trying to breathe. I was so freaked at the whole situation I didn't think much about my strange inability to run or remain standing. That was about the time I started looking into my swallow problems so I'm sure it was the MG. I don't do things like that now. The times I've pushed myself too far lately I end up with slurred speech and weakness. That's when I stop and rest. I don't want to know what comes next.
