Myasthenia Gravis Support Group
Myasthenia gravis (MG) is a neuromuscular disease leading to fluctuating muscle weakness and fatiguability. The hallmark of myasthenia gravis is muscle weakness that increases during periods of activity and improves after periods of rest. Although myasthenia gravis may affect any voluntary muscle, muscles that control eye and eyelid movement, facial expression, and...
Would a sample short trip be an option to see how you feel? I always feel so much less stress the minute I walk through my front door. I went away for a day trip yesterday and felt refreshed and happy to be home for a while.
at this stage of the game ven with 2vac and one booster, the more secure way is tarveling by car, bo problems will arise with it, versus, air faare, boat with people at the top, bottom, sine and in beetwen
if you going to risk and enjoy the holliday with family, i can assure you that would be the way i do it
taking your time mesuring hour in the car, stopping along the way grabing a bite to eat, and all other nessecities ou will be safer that you can be in ithe other ways
best of luck and have a good, safe and enjoyable trip, and enjoy your time with your family, have a happy and safe hollidays

When I took a lot of mestinon, I took 2 Imodium tablets every morning for maybe 6 months without problems.
With the new Omicron variant appearing to be very rapid spreading and our vaccines not giving us immunity, but rather we hope for a mild case with our vaccinations, I think waiting a month or two to see what happens would be wise.
A problem with cruises is you are at the mercy of the cruise ship, sort of a prisoner onboard, and as we saw early on with Covid, might get stuck on it for an extended period of time. I think maybe driving in a car and some selected friends to visit might be a reasonable alternative. Ideally, renting a self-contained RV and doing a little travel that way might be a safe way to get out. We always liked to stop at the TX state parks for a week or two, and with a self-contained unit, you are pretty well separated from people -- and winter parks are pretty quiet as TX folks think 50F is unbearably cold ;-) We tried Garner State Park, the one on the edge of Laredo, and one near San Angelo TX. I imagine if you went further south it would be warmer, but we liked west TX as it didn't rain much.
Good luck

Guess we will not take either trip in the foreseeable future.
We were overwhelmed with the Idea of the trip/s that we overlooked some important stuff. Much of which you outlined above.
As a side note - Carol and I lived our 42' Foretravel Diesel Pusher for 7+ years and that would have been our choice for the San Diego trip. We do not like the idea of sleeping in different motel rooms and eating in a lot of restaurants. We sold our motor home when I was diagnosed with MG two years ago.
Got itchy feet. :-)
Thanks again for your input.
Have a safe Holiday.

Carol and I just returned from a two night stay in a small city in the Hill Country of Texas by the name of Fredericksburg. We used vrbo and rented a small 2 bedroom for two nights. We met with a couple of couples that are motorhome RV buds to spend some time together. All triple vaxed. One of us recently had some heart work done, another just finished a course of radiation and then there was me. Needless to say were are all very careful and had to share our bona fides before we removed the masks. We sat and visited with the door open and a ceiling fan slowly turning above us. Any way, we had a nice time. The next day we found a table for a late lunch outside. (It was about 62F with full sun.)
The drive was about 4 hours there and 4 back.
The hardest part for me was when we were moving through the restaurant from the front to the back to get to our out-door table. Had to weave through a number of people with steps, curves, corners and semi light, made the walk interesting. For me, when walking through a moving mass of people is difficult as my eyes do not always track the same things at the same times. This tends to disorient me as it often appears as if things are jumping out at me. In short it causes stress. When I am getting stressed, my hands start to tremor and my speech starts to deteriorate and I know I need to rest. At this point Carol slipped me a hydroxyzine to settle me down and all went well.
Any way, we got out and away for a few days. We were able to Catch Up with close friends and got home safe. :-)
Too many unmasked people everywhere.
