Jerry, I hope some time to rest will help in your recovery. I know it must be scarey and sad leaving your job, but you need to put your health first. Once you have things under control, you can find a job that fits your new life style with less stress.

I had to miss several weeks of work. I started back part time and went back full time as the prednisone and Imuran kicked in for me. It's nice that you hAve a job when you are ready. Dont give up hope. Focus on getting better. Continue Resting and learning your limitations. I understand how you feel. Try to enjoy everyday as much as you can. Friends , Barbel

Oh Jerry, I'm sorry to hear this but in a way I'm happy for it too. I'm a good example of pushing it too far and not resting enough. I hope that you will be able to return to work after some much needed rest and in a less stressful capacity too. Rest up and you are in my thoughts.

I'm so sorry you reached the point where you had to quit working. I know that was a difficult decision. The good thing is now you can focus on you and controlling the MG. Get lots of rest and take care of yourself. Michele

My last day did go well. Thanks for all your support. It was emotionally draining and a very bitter/sweet kind of day.
Today I am working on getting the finances in order or at least an organized-disorder so I know where I stand. I just pray that my Neuro will sign the disability papers. Waiting to hear from that is very difficult to say the least.

Hi Jerry I just wanted to join the chorus of well wishers for you. I can fully understand your situation. You know Jerry I am in the sciences and research field and do not have the physical job you had and I have been thinking of doing the same thing you have done. I am a physicist at MIT which by all accounts is fairly limited physically. So far my employer "wont let me" leave yet, they want to work with me and my limitations, but it is very hard just not being able to do what I know I used to be able to do.

Dealing with MG full time is hard and my hats off to you for doing as well as you have done Jerry, your certainly a MG hero in my book. I wish you the very very best as you take this next step on your journey. My hopes are that this next year that you will be able to start the next chapter in your life with the goal of better health and better management of MG.

You might consider getting one of those Disability lawyers that doesn't get paid unless/until you start collecting. It seems to help the process along, from what I hear. I've also heard from members of other groups that approval doesn't usually happen until the 3rd application.

I hope that doesn't sound discouraging, I just wanted you to know what you *might* expect so it doesn't come as another stressful shock. That's wonderful that you have a job waiting for you when you're ready! Good luck with everything!

MG is on the list of disabilities for the social security administration. An attorney would help speed the process along a lot quicker. Hang in there Jerry. First part of the battle is regaining your health and if there's a will, there's a way. Take care of YOU first, then when you are ready to go back, like your boss said, there will always be a job there for you. I wish you great things my friend.

i had to go through the same thing about 4-1/2 months ago. im on short term disability from my company. it last for 6 months, then ill hopefully go on long term disability through cigna. that is why i guess i paid the premiums for LTD through my company....finances will drop by 1/3. but we will make it, just have to alter some life styles. i came to the point 4-1/2 months go when i asked myself if it was worth it to keep working and my health getting worse.....i kept working for 2 years having MG(DIDNT KNOW I HAD IT). ABOUT A YEAR AGO IT GOT SO BAD I HAD TO CALL MY BOSS AND SAY THAT I CANT MAKE IT THE REST OF THE DAY....SO I WENT HOME....I GOT TO HAPPENING PRETTY FREQUENTLY FROM THERE ON OUT,,,GOING HOME EARLY I MEAN BECAUSE I COULD NOT GO ANY FURTHER. SOMETIMES I FEEL GUILTY AND TELL MY WIFE IM SORRY FOR NOT HAVING A JOB...SHE SAYS ITS NOT YOUR FAULT. SO DONT GET TO DEPRESSED WHEN IT FINALLY HITS YOU. WHEN YOU ARE USED TO GETTING UP AND GOING TO WORK EVERY DAY AND ALL OF A SUDDEN YOU CANT PHYSICALLY DO IT ANY MORE, WELL, TAKE IT DAY BY DAY MY FRIEND, IT WILL PASS. IM CONCERNED ABOUT HAVING TO FIND NEW INSURANCE AND TRYING TO GET EVERYTHING IN ORDER FOR OUR NEW LIFE STYLE.....THE LORD PROVIDES, HE ALWAYS HAS AND WILL ALWAYS PROVIDE WHAT I NEED, NOT NECESSARILY WHAT I WANT BUT WHAT I NEED TO MAKE IT...OF COURSE I HAVE TO USE SOME WISDOM AND MAKE GOOD DECISIONS. BUT IT WILL WORK MY FRIEND. YOU HAVE A LOT OF SUPPORT HERE AT DAILY STRENGTH, IS AMAZING THAT SO MANY PEOPLE CARE ABOUT EACH OTHER.....TAKE CARE MY FRIEND
