Back in 2012, high on Prednisone, I wrote and posted a poem to this forum:

A Visit from MG (with apologies to Clement Moore)

Twas the night before Christmas and all through the house,
Not a creature was stirring, not even my spouse.

The Mestinon was laid by my bed side with care
A crisis this night I had hopes to spare.

My Rover was nestled all snug on my bed
While visions from prednisone danced in my head

And Margo in her pjs and I with CPAP
Had just settled our brains or a long winters nap.

When all of a sudden my leg gave a yank
And doubled all up a mestinon cramp!

I crawled from the bed filled with pain,
Reached nearby and grabbed my cane.

Two moons through the window gave light to the room,
But ptosis showed all objects cloaked with gloom.

And what to my wandering eyes should I see,
But Rover jump from bed and stare at me.

He barked not a word, but went straight to work,
Grabbed a Tylenol bottle and turned with a jerk

And laying the pills next to my chair
Growled quite low, just like a bear.

A nudge of his nose and a twist of his head,
Soon gave me to know I had nothing to dread.

I took two pills and stretched out my leg
And hung up my cane on a nearby peg.

The pain eased up slowly so I slid back in bed
Hoping there were no more cramps ahead.

I counted until tired, hundreds of sheep,
And dreamed of remission till I fell asleep.
