SS Disability for MG

Hi,


is anyone on SS disability because of MG here? How was the process and how long?

You should Get a good lawyer MG not on list of automatic disability and I heard it’s very hard and strict requirements. They can toss you off if you get better on your medication.
I work full time have three kids push through the rough patches. They find people who work have less symptoms. I went on my companies short term disability for two months a couple of years ago. It helped me get back on my feet. Maybe your company has disability time you can take.

I applied about a year ago, was recently denied. and have tried again just a couple months ago. I am 61, my attorney told me I would have no problem getting disability based on my past work types. I was a mobile heavy equipment mechanic in the logging and oil industry. Pretty hard to retrain me and I just cant do the work anymore anyway.. extreme fatigue and double vision are my most predominant symptoms..

I was denied first time, got a lawyer second time..... and am waiting. I was told it could be 5 months or so before I hear anything.

The lawyer said they don't take all cases, but believed this was one to take on.

I have been on SSD for MG for about 25 yrs. I was initially denied. On the 'appeal', I wrote a 25 page add on to the application and explained the disease, how it effected me minute-by-minute, day-by-day. I went for a Vocational rehab appointment and received a letter explaining that because my symptoms fluctuated from severe to minor without warning- no employer would EVER hire me. I was approved immediately and never hired an attorney. They need educated about the disease.. explain it to them in excruciating detail exactly how it effects your life and why it prevents you from working.
