im so sorry to hear that..I have not taken Imuran so dont know much about it Im afraid..I take prednisone and have for 5 years..I have noticed with that I get skin rashes and blood blister type things all over..Dont think to bad but itchy and bothersome....Can you take steroids? Im sure your doc would know other options but that might be one and could be lower dosage..Unfortunatlely for us all guess all the meds have some side affects and affect us differently...Was taking mestinon and now HORRIBLE stomache issues that could be serious so never know what is the best..But good luck and god bless..Im sure some of these great people on the site will know about Imuran..Sorry couldnt be more help..

Yes I have history of basil and squamous since being on cellcept an imuran I had skin cancer last year on lip and found out today it is on my nose. I will have MOHs procedure .

My doc put me on immuran and right on the side effects disclaimer it said skin cancer. I had a cancerous growth on my leg within 3 mos. But I also found that I had ovarian cancer and the chemo for it took care of the cancerous growth on my leg too. I won't go back on it again, I am just too scared.But then I have had skin cancerous growths emoved before. Too much sunshine as a kid they tell me.

I was on Imuran for 10 years and developed melanoma - it's now 5 years out after the surgery and I'm OK. I have been on cellcept for 5 years now with no side effects. Imuran is a scary drug and all people taking it should have routine skin checks done by a dermatologist.

This is a scary thing. The possibility of lousy side-effects - that come along with the meds that preserve us.
(I could never take Imuran or Cellcept. In very short order (weeks), they caused my WBC to crash.)

Sorry to hear this. Hopefully things get better. I have always taken only Cellcept for my MG. Cancer is always on my mind. I am scared of Cancer. I eat an apple almost every day and try to get things with anticancer properties to eat, apply etc. as much as possible.

GO AWAY CANCER! LEAVE US ALONE!

Good to hear from you but so sorry that cancer has reared its head. Unfortunately almost everything we consume has the potential to cause harm, My hope is that with treatment you can kick it all to the curb.

Well I didn't talk to my Neuro today, she's on vacation. I decided to wait and see what the results of the biopsies are, then e-mail her. I do have an appointment on 5/20, but I would like to talk to her before that. There is a history of cancer in my family. Three out of four of my sisters have breast cancer. My mom also has breast cancer that has now moved to her lungs. One sister and my mom are both going through Chemo at this time. On 4/30 I will be seeing a Genetic Risk Assesment counsellor to see what my percentage of getting breast cancer is. Seems really a waste of time because you and I both know it is really high. I have to go through that in order for my insurance to cover breast MRI instead of a mammogram. Well I'll post more when I know what's going on. My guess is I'll start on Cellcept.

Gail, I am so sorry to hear this. We will have to get together soon. I am getting stronger. Yes, I think skin cancer is a potential for most of the immunosuppressants.

Im sorry to hear what you have to battle now hope you will be ok . I had in the past been on imuran but have not had any skin issues. Prednisone on the other hand has caused some moderate thinning of my skin as it seems its always something with meds and side effects.

Boy do I agree with cgreens in " go way cancer leave us alone "
